Starring Kate Winslet as a landscape designer during the reign of Louis XIV, A Little Chaos is a costume drama with a modern sensibility.

Hired to create a rock garden in the palace of Versailles, she rises to both professional and romantic challenges, working under master architect Le Notre (Mathias Schoenaerts) while trying to please “The Sun King” (Rickman). The excellent supporting cast includes Stanley Tucci as the King’s flamboyant brother, as well as Helen McCrory and Jennifer Ehle as elegant women engaged in court intrigue.

Alan Rickman’s film debut as the villain in Die Hard led to a rich career including such memorable roles as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and the hero of Anthony Minghella’s Truly Madly Deeply. His movies include Sense and Sensibility, Close My Eyes, Love Actually, Sweeney Todd and all eight films in the Harry Potter series. For the telefilm Rasputin, he won Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Awards. Rickman directed and co-wrote the 1997 feature film The Winter Guest, starring Emma Thompson and Phyllida Law.
