Who Stole the Mona Lisa? & La Revue de Cuisine

Tue, Mar 31, 11:20 am ET

Through two musical stories set in Paris, France, students will be immersed in French culture as they uncover Who Stole the Mona Lisa and witness dancing kitchen utensils. Micah Chamber-Goldberg’s film, inspired by the true story of the disappearance of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911, features a live performance by Alexander Moutouzkine of Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite arranged for solo piano. The film’s striking animations and larger-than-life characters will have students on the edge of their seats as they listen and watch the mystery unfold. Then, in a rare performance with original choreography, dancers will enchant young audience members with Bohuslav Martinů’s jazz ballet, La Revue de Cuisine (the Kitchen Review), as they enact a variety of kitchen utensils who swagger their way through a naïve episode of kitchen life.
