In this audio recording, prolific mystery author P. D. James reads from her Adam Dalgliesh novel A Taste for Death.

“I think in my books, the finding of the bodies should be rather terrible. It’s not that I’m deliberately setting out to be horrific or to spill the blood too copiously, but the finding of the bodies is seen through the eyes of one of the characters. And of course, it is absolutely horrible to that character and I think the reader ought to share in the horror.”
